Colloquiums

A Colloquium is an occasional meeting organised by a Study Committee to discuss a number of defined problems in depth. Since the beginning of the former SC 35, it has been a tradition to hold a Colloquium in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Study Committee during the odd-numbered years, under the hosting of a NC. In the past, the format of those events followed strictly the one applied to Sessions: selection of Preferential Subjects, a Call for papers procedure, and appointment of one or several Special Reporters. After the selection by the SC Chairman of the Papers to be discussed, the Special Reporter(s) prepared a Special Report, document which will guide the debate at the Colloquium. No paper presentation was allowed, and the contributions had to refer to the questions posed by the Special Reporter(s).

To improve the participation of experts from the host country on these Colloquiums, a new procedure was tested in 2003, allowing a short presentation of papers by authors. The response has been encouraging, with increases both in the number of attendees and in the number of Papers submitted.

In 2009, the SCD2 Colloquium will be held in Japan from the 21st to the 22nd of October.
Three Preferential Subjects are to be found in the Call for Paper
